Get Paid in Air Miles to Stay in Dubai: How Emirates' Mile-a-Minute Offer Works

Imagine a hotel that gives you a free coffee for every hour you stay. Emirates is doing something similar with Dubai: for every minute you spend in the city, you get 1 free "mile" in the airline's loyalty club. Stay a day and you get 1,440 miles. Stay five days and you hit the maximum, 7,200 miles.
The catch is the deadline. You must sign up and buy your ticket by 5 November 2026. That is only ten days away, so here is everything you need to know, in plain words.
First, what is a "mile"?
Airlines run loyalty clubs. Emirates' club is called Skywards. When you fly, you collect points called miles, and later you can swap them for things: a cheaper flight, a seat upgrade, extra baggage, hotel nights and more.
Joining is free. A Skywards mile is not real money, but it has value, and this offer hands you a pile of them without any extra flying.
What exactly is the offer?
The name says it all: Earn a Mile a Minute in Dubai. The offer works like this:
- You fly to Dubai with Emirates or its sister airline flydubai.
- You stay in Dubai for at least 24 hours.
- Emirates counts the minutes between your arrival and your departure (using the times printed on your ticket) and gives you that many bonus miles.
- The most you can get is 7,200 miles.
These miles are a bonus on top of the miles you already earn from the flights themselves.
How long should you stay? The 5-day number
Here is what different stays are worth:
| Your time in Dubai | Bonus miles |
|---|---|
| 1 day (24 hours) | 1,440 |
| 2 days | 2,880 |
| 3 days | 4,320 |
| 4 days | 5,760 |
| 5 days | 7,200 (maximum) |
| 6 to 30 days | still 7,200 |
So 5 days is the sweet spot. Staying a sixth day will not hurt you, but it will not earn extra miles either. The longest stay that still counts is 30 days.
Stopover or full holiday: both work
Dubai is one of the world's biggest connecting airports. Many flights between Europe and places like Asia, Africa, the Indian Ocean or Australia change planes there. A stopover simply means you do not rush to your connection: you leave the airport, spend a night or a few days in Dubai, then carry on.
Emirates says both a stopover and a longer visit are fine. Either way, the miles are counted from the time you land in Dubai to the time you take off again.
Emirates also points out that October to December is a lively time in the city, with live shows, sports events and shopping festivals. Keep your boarding pass while you are there, because partner restaurants, shops and attractions offer discounts for showing it.
Are you eligible? A quick checklist
You qualify if all of these are true:
- You are an Emirates Skywards member (free to join, and new members can sign up until 5 November).
- You registered for this offer by 5 November 2026. This is a separate step from joining Skywards. You can do it online, in the Emirates or flydubai app, or at an Emirates office.
- You bought and paid for a return ticket between 21 October and 5 November 2026.
- You take the whole trip between 21 October and 13 December 2026.
- You are not a UAE resident in your Skywards profile, and your trip starts outside the UAE.
Which tickets count?
- Return tickets only. Two separate one-way tickets do not count.
- Emirates flights (EK numbers) and flydubai flights (FZ numbers). Flights by partner airlines do not count.
- Most fare types count, from the cheapest Economy "Special" or "Lite" up to Business and First Class. Emirates lists Special, Saver, Flex and Flex Plus; flydubai lists Lite, Value, Flex and Business.
- Tickets can be bought on the airline websites and apps, at their offices, or through a travel agent.
The fine print, simplified
- You get the bonus once. Only your first eligible Dubai stay counts, even if you visit twice.
- No double bonuses. If you qualify for another Emirates promotion too, you get the bigger one, not both.
- Miles do not arrive instantly. They are added within 30 days after your Dubai stay ends. You can see them in your Skywards account.
- Emirates can change or cancel the offer. Read the full terms on their site before you book.
Is it worth it?
7,200 miles is a nice bonus, not a jackpot. How much it is worth depends on what you spend it on. As a rough guess, it could be worth somewhere around US$50 to US$100 towards a flight or upgrade. This is our own estimate, not an official number.
It makes the most sense if:
- You were going to fly via Dubai anyway, and a day or two there costs you only a hotel night.
- You were already planning a Dubai trip this autumn and have not booked yet.
It makes less sense if you would have to pay a lot more for a return ticket just to qualify.
Also remember to check the visa and entry rules for Dubai for your passport before you plan the stay. They depend on your nationality.
What to do, step by step
- Join Skywards on the Emirates website if you are not a member (free).
- Register for the offer on the official Emirates page.
- Book a return ticket on an Emirates or flydubai flight by 5 November, with a stay of at least 24 hours in Dubai.
- Travel by 13 December.
- Check your Skywards account within 30 days after you leave Dubai to see your miles.
